Day 01: ARRIVING IN LIMA

Welcome to Your Seamless Arrival Experience with Lux Adventure Peru.

Upon landing in Lima, a tour guide will warmly greet you at the airport on the initial day of your Peruvian adventure. You will then be transferred to your chosen hotel. After check-in, then you will be transfer to the selected hotel. After check-in, we will provide a brief orientation and present you with your "Travel Kit" containing all your essential travel documents.

Day 02: LIMA TOUR

Tasting Lima: Exploring the Gastronomic Treasures of Peru

At 08:30 hrs, embark on a culinary adventure with a pick-up from your hotel, immersing yourself in the vibrant flavours of Peruvian cuisine. Begin your journey at a local market, where you'll explore an array of colourful fruits and vegetables from the Coast, Andes, and Amazon regions, gaining insight into Peru's diverse culinary heritage. Next, indulge your senses at a Peruvian Organic coffee and chocolate house, savouring bean-to-bar, fair-trade coffee and chocolate sourced from different regions of Peru.

Continuing your exploration, venture into the Barranco Art Deco district, affectionately known as the SoHo of Lima, renowned for its eclectic blend of art, vibrant streets, and hidden gems. Here, you'll discover tucked-away bars, coffee shops, and vibrant old mansions, including the esteemed "Central" restaurant, ranked as the World's best by Virgilio Martinez.

Your culinary journey then leads you to "Cala" restaurant, where you'll tantalize your taste buds with the famous Pisco Sour and traditional ceviche while enjoying panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. Conclude your gastronomic experience at the "Huaca Pucllana" restaurant, where you'll delight in a delectable main course and dessert amidst the historic surroundings of the Huaca Pucllana archaeological site.

After a memorable lunch, unwind as you're transferred back to your hotel, arriving at approximately 15:30 hrs, filled with culinary delights and cherished memories of your time exploring the flavours of Peru.

Day 03: LIMA – PUERTO MALDONADO – CORTO MALTES

Into the Heart of the Amazon: A Rainforest Adventure at Lodge Corto Maltes Amazonía

At 11:30 hrs, prepare for an adventure as you're transferred to the airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival, our team will warmly greet you at the airport and transfer you to our office in Puerto Maldonado's heart. Here, you can securely store any luggage not needed for your rainforest stay before embarking on an unforgettable journey.

Board the river vessel "Puerto de Capitanía" and embark on a scenic 40-minute journey along the Madre de Dios River to reach the facilities of Lodge Corto Maltes Amazonía. Upon arrival, refresh yourself with seasonal fruit refreshments and receive important information from your guide. Then, settle into your bungalow, equipped with a security safe, before enjoying a delicious lunch and leisure time.

At 3:30 pm, set off on your first jungle excursion with your guide to the Shiringuero Camp. Explore the lush rainforest, learn about tropical trees and medicinal plants, and witness the rubber tapping process at a shiringuero encampment, a critical economic activity in the region. After a captivating 2-hour trek, return to the lodge for free time to relax by the pool, enjoy a cocktail at the bar, or indulge in a soothing massage.

As the sun sets, embark on a caiman safari at 7:00 pm, venturing on a nocturnal boat trip to observe caimans and nocturnal riverbank wildlife. Return to the lodge for a delightful dinner at 8:00 pm, served in the riverside dining room, where you can recount the day's adventures and savour the flavours of the Amazon.

Day 04: CORTO MALTES

Amazon Adventure: Exploring Lake Sandoval and Beyond at Lodge Corto Maltes Amazonía

Begin your day with breakfast at 5:30 am, enjoying coffee or tea before departing for Lake Sandoval. Your guide will provide a bagged breakfast and snack for the excursion.

At 6:00 am, embark on a scenic 20-minute boat ride along the Madre de Dios River to reach the landing stage of Lake Sandoval. From there, embark on a 3 km hike through the wild vegetation of Tambopata National Reserve, where you'll have the opportunity to encounter giant trees, various snakes, and playful monkeys, including squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, and capuchin monkeys. Keep your eyes peeled for many bird species, including the unique Hoatzin, kingfishers, and snakebirds.

Upon reaching Lake Sandoval, board small rowboats and search for the elusive giant river otters. Marvel at the diverse array of reptiles, mammals, and birds in their natural habitat. Take a break for breakfast at a picturesque spot chosen by your guide before beginning the return journey to the pier.

Afternoon Adventures and Relaxation

Enjoy lunch back at the Lodge at 1:30 pm.

At 3:30 pm, embark on an excursion to the lookout tower, choosing from one of two towers of varying heights for birdwatching and enjoying panoramic canopy views. Optionally, visit a Brazil nut harvesting camp to learn about this important economic activity in the Madre de Dios region.

Following your adventures, indulge in some free time to relax by the pool, pamper yourself with a massage, sip refreshing drinks at the bar, or browse souvenirs at our shop.

Conclude your day with a delicious dinner at 8:00 pm, recounting your wildlife encounters and experiences in the Amazon rainforest.

Morning Parrot Watching at the Clay Lick

Start your day with a refreshing coffee or tea at 05:30 am before taking a leisurely 20-minute walk to the clay lick. Here, you'll have the incredible opportunity to observe 3 to 5 types of parrots as they gather to ingest clay, a vital part of their diet for metabolic regulation. Witnessing this colourful spectacle will surely highlight your Amazon experience, offering a delightful and exciting event in the heart of the rainforest.

Exploration and Departure At 08:00 am, enjoy a hearty breakfast and some free time to relax. After breakfast, return to Puerto Maldonado by boat, where a vehicle will be waiting to transfer you to the city centre. Make a brief stop at our office before heading to the local market, where you'll have approximately 20 minutes to explore and admire the diverse array of typical products from the region.

Following the market visit, we'll proceed to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco, our team will welcome you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free for you to acclimatize to the altitude and explore the charming city at your own pace

Day 06: CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY – CUSCO

Discovering the Sacred Valley: Pisac, Ollantaytambo, and Ancient Treasures

At approximately 08:30 hrs, your journey to the heart of the Sacred Valley begins with a pickup from your hotel, leading you on a scenic drive to the Pisac archaeological complex. This 1 hour and 35-minute trip offers a chance to capture stunning views and admire the iconic Pucara Bulls atop Andean homes, symbols of prosperity and protection often gifted at weddings.

Upon arriving at Pisac, immerse yourself in the history and beauty of its ancient terraces designed by the Incas to enhance agricultural space. Following the exploration, delve into the vibrant atmosphere of the Pisac artisan market. This historical gathering spot has long drawn traders and communities from across the valley, showcasing traditional attire, exquisite crafts, and local produce.

Post-lunch, your adventure continues to Ollantaytambo, an exceptional example of Incan urban planning. Here, marvel at the religious, astronomical, and military structures and learn about the incredible feat of moving massive boulders for construction purposes.

Conclude your enriching day with a scenic drive to your hotel, where the memories of the day's cultural and historical discoveries linger with you.

Note: The train to Machu Picchu permits only 5 Kg of luggage. Please pack only essentials for the Sacred Valley and store extra luggage at your Cusco hotel.

Day 07: CUSCO - MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO

Your journey to the iconic Machu Picchu begins early at 06:30 hrs with a transfer to the train station. Embark on a train ride to this World Heritage Site, a marvel of archaeology that remained hidden for centuries until its discovery in the early 20th century by Hiram Bingham.

The experience of encountering Machu Picchu, nestled between mountains and jungle, is indescribable and stirs the imagination with its grandeur and mystery.

Upon your arrival in Aguas Calientes, you'll be greeted at the train station and taken on a 20-minute ride up to Machu Picchu. Here, a tour of the Citadel awaits, offering you a chance to delve into the history and enigma of this impressive site.

Machu Picchu is situated in an extraordinary setting, surrounded by lush vegetation and perched between two mountains: Machu Picchu (old mountain) and Huayna Picchu (young mountain), with the winding Urubamba or Vilcanota River below.

After exploring the Citadel, return to Aguas Calientes, where you can wander through the village or enjoy lunch at your leisure (not included). Your day concludes with a 16:00 hrs assistance to the train station for your journey back to Poroy. Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to your hotel in Cusco, bringing your Machu Picchu adventure to a comfortable close.

Note: Please note the train's luggage policy limits luggage to one piece of 5 kgs. We recommend carrying only the essentials in a backpack. Your extra baggage will be safely transported by an assistant to your hotel in Cusco and stored securely until your return.

Day 08: CUSCO – LIMA - DEPARTURE

Journey Through Cusco's Rich History: Inca and Colonial Monuments Exploration

At 09:00 hrs, your exploration of Cusco's rich history begins with a pick-up from your hotel for a City Tour, immersing you in the blend of Inca and Spanish Colonial monuments. Your first stop is the Main Square, known as Huacaypata or the Warrior's Square in Inca times, where pivotal events in Cusco's history unfolded. Next, marvel at the Cathedral, built upon the ancient temple of Suntur Wasi, showcasing remarkable choir cloisters, a pulpit, and intricate engravings.

Continuing, visit the Church and Convent of Santo Domingo, a Spanish structure erected atop the foundations of the Inca temple of Koricancha, or Temple of the Sun. Delve into the history of Koricancha, the principal Inca religious site adorned with gold-plated walls and expertly carved stone blocks.

Your journey then takes you to Tambomachay, revered as the Inca baths dedicated to water worship. Kenko is believed to be a sacred worship site with intricate stone engravings depicting animals. Lastly, explore Puca Pucará, an administrative and military centre boasting terraces, turrets, and vaulted niches.

After this enriching tour, return to your hotel to prepare for your onward journey. At 15:15 hrs, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Lima, connecting you to your international departure

  • Machu Picchu Visitor Guidelines: The National Cultural Institute (INC) has established specific rules for visiting Machu Picchu: * Only small bags or packs (less than 20 litres) are allowed on site.
    * Drinks should be in reusable water containers; disposable plastic bottles are prohibited per District Municipality of Machu Picchu law Nr. 008-2008/MDM Nov 12, 2008.
    * Walking sticks or canes are permitted only for elderly or disabled individuals.
    * Climbing on Inca walls is strictly prohibited.
